Best Comedic TV Actress Award Goes To Kaley Cuoco
The People's Choice Awards took place on the night of January 7th 2015, and saw loads of big winners in some of the most popular categories. Among the winners was Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, most known for her role on The Big Bang Theory, in the category of Best Comedic TV Actress.
In the first awards show of the new year, The People's Choice Awards allows viewers and fans to choose the winners in the areas of film, television, and music. Cuoco handed out the award for Favorite Comedic Movie Actress, which went to Melissa McCarthy for her role in Tammy. Cuoco was awarded the title of Best Comedic TV Actress, besting nominees Amy Poehler and Melissa McCarthy.
Cuoco took the opportunity to playfully address her recent controversial remarks on feminism that appeared in the magazine Redbook, and called her appearance on stage to present McCarthy's award as “part of [her] apology tour.”
The actress was asked in an interview with Redbook whether she classified herself as a feminist. Cuoco responded by saying she did not think of herself as one, and that she does not demand equality between the sexes, claiming that she never really experienced gender inequality in her career. The interview sparked anger among the public, and Cuoco took time to apologize on social media site Instagram, declaring that her words were taken out of context.
At the People's Choice Awards show, Cuoco was lighthearted and graciously accepted her Favorite Comedic TV Actress award. Showing genuine surprise at beating out the other comedic actresses, Cuoco seemed to enjoy the night and receive true audience support.
