"Night of Too Many Stars”
Comedy central has announced the lineup of comic stars who will appear for its autism benefit. Night of Too Many Stars is an annual event benefitting autism by raising funds for New York Collaborates for autism.
"Night of Too Many Stars: America Comes Together for Autism Programs” producer will Jon Stewart’s Busboy Productions and event will be hosted by Stewart. Comics who will make appearances in the event include: Larry David, Louis C.K.,Paul Rudd, Martin Short, Jon Hamm, Larry Wilmore, Amy Schumer and more are to be announced soon.
The producer, Stewart is recording the event at New York Beacon Theater on February 28. The benefit is taped but the event setup is an old-school kind of telethon where the comics perform on stage and the viewers from home call up to give their donations to the autism program. The event also have a celebrity phone bank that will allow the viewers to call and make contributions while speaking to comics and some celebrity heavyweights.
"Night of Too Many Stars” has been able to raise over $18 million since 2006. Through New York Collaborates for Autism, it gave almost $4 million as grants to 50 programs across 20 states in 2012. Autism affects approximately 1 in 68 children in America that is 1 in every 189 girls and 1 in every 42 boys. The benefit helps support in the overabundance of people living with autism who need quality services. The benefit supports autism school by giving those affected by autism the chance to live life to the fullest.
