Skyscrapers ‘’without’’ shadow
For so long skyscrapers were proof of our possibilities. For many of us they are the solution for the expanding population problem. But, there are people who don’t like them. Because they are so tall, and there are many of them, skyscrapers are blocking out sunlight. This is apparently a serious problem for British cities. Luckily, there is a solution. An international architect firm, NBBJ, announced that they could make a new type of skyscrapers, who could redirect sunlight to the ground.
There are more than 230 ‘’older generation’’ skyscrapers that are in development, just in London. This means darker streets. Accordingly to NBBJ, their design will use two towers. They are curved and angled to minimize shadows. Architects will have to know the angles, at which sun is shining at that location. Those numbers would be transferred to the building, which means every of those future skyscrapers will be a bit different. They will diffuse light bellow them. First tests were completed, and design works. The best thing is that it can be used anywhere on the planet!
Maybe you remember for the Walkie Talkie skyscraper, who directed strong beams of light that could melt metal on the streets! But, this was an accident, and NBBJ wouldn’t make this mistake. This company designed buildings for: Google, Amazon, Microsoft and Samsung. The common thing for all of them is technology, so if NBBJ could satisfy their needs, they are good!
A permissions for 236 futuristic skyscrapers were approved! Most of them will be from 20 up to 75 storeys, apartment buildings. If they are successful, these hi-tech towers should have a positive effect on extending population and they should make London a brighter place.
